Jess and Justin's day moved from a bright, minimal home in the morning to the grand Victorian setting of Werribee Mansion. Soft blues, white flowers and Jess's textured strapless gown gave their autumn day a light, modern feel within a historic place.

The day

The morning was all white walls and natural light. Justin got ready in a white dinner jacket, and Jess was dressed in her floral-textured gown and long veil, finishing with a bouquet in soft blue, lilac and blush. Before leaving, Jess pinned her dad's buttonhole.

At the mansion, the ceremony was held on the lawn before a backdrop of dense green foliage and tall white flowers, with bridesmaids in pastel satin dresses. The couple signed at a simple white table, then stepped out to explore the house and grounds.

Photo spots at Werribee Mansion

The front drive and facade. The full mansion and its tower, photographed from the gravel forecourt, is the classic establishing frame.

The sandstone columns. The deep porch gives soft, even light for close portraits.

The staircase landing. The arched doorway and carved balustrade, with Justin offering a hand down the stairs.

Tips for couples marrying at Werribee Mansion

Pale colours glow against the mansion's deep green gardens; a soft palette works well.

If you're getting ready elsewhere, allow travel time to the estate in your timeline. We help every couple shape theirs at a planning meeting six months out.

Allow about ninety minutes for portraits so you can see the facade, porch and interiors without rushing.
