Jihan & Rob’s Luci Melbourne Wedding
Jihan and Rob’s spring wedding was one of the most fun days we’ve shot. Between elegant, editorial portraits, we used everything around us: props, drinks, backdrops, hotel luggage carts, classic cars, hotel corridors, elevators and, of course, Jihan’s Louboutins.
The day
Instead of a traditional ceremony, Jihan and Rob shared private vows in the Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne. They spoke about their faith, about how unconditionally they love each other, and about the honeymoon ahead.
Preparations were at Hannah St Hotel, and the celebration moved to Luci Melbourne at the Hilton Melbourne Little Queen Street for a moody soirée of velvet curtains, candlelight and soft pink florals. A harpist played, there was a live performer and a DJ, and the night ended on the dance floor.
Shooting a hotel wedding in Melbourne
Use the building. Hotel corridors, lifts, luggage carts and the lobby make striking editorial frames that most couples never think of.
Bring a classic car. A vintage convertible gives you portraits on the street between venues.
Keep the vows intimate. Private vows in the gardens leave time for relaxed portraits before the reception.
